Well, I finally did it.  I made that appointment for my neurologist for tomorrow.  Yesterday I ended up staying home from work because my head hurt bad enough.  I didn’t get much sleep that night so I needed a day off.  I woke up for a bit, put a load of laundry in the washer, and went back to sleep.  How eventful.

I made the decision yesterday that I am tired of taking the pain relievers.  I don’t know what I’m going to ask of my doctor but I think I may want to try different abortive drugs before I go onto a maintenance drug like Topamax.  I’ve tried Imitrex, Maxalt, and I think one other with no success.  Indocin does nothing, and we tried melatonin too.  I hated Depakote and we all know what happened with Topamax.  The other requirement has to be that the drug is on my healthcare provider’s “list”.  My copay is up to $50/month for some of the newer drugs; Topamax was only $30.  I thought that maybe this year I would spend my flexible spending account on something like glasses rather than drug cocktails.  Sigh.

I must now deal with the fallout of me being sick at work.  I can be bored off my a$$ for weeks but the day I’m sick, I had an important meeting.  Unbelievable.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed to find something new whether it be here or somewhere new.  I need change.

Hey Artin,

Enjoyed reading your (awfully-funny-for-someone-in-pain) blog the couple of times I’ve come across it. Hang in there kiddo.

I don’t have migraines, not the full-blown kind, but I do suffer from chronic tension-type headaches and have possibly a migraine component. I do, however, suffer from head pain 30 days out of 30. So I know whereof you speak, to some extent.

Anyway, I am here for self-promotion. i just started a blog, not nearly as clever as yours, but a blog no less, to chronicle my headache saga. Not as interesting as the chronicles of Narnia, but i am working my way up to it. I’d like to invite you to check me out http://www.windlost.blogspot.com. Not getting much traffic yet, soo trying to “get out there” etc. You know, sell the blog, find some kindred spirits, that kind of thing.

Ok, will check back on you in the days to come. Love the format of your blog. I have no programming skills, unless it comes to engineering simulators and then I rule, so I’m on blogger with the boring old templates. Yours is so elegant!! Ok, talk later, Terri
