Waikiki is fun but a little overcrowded. Please be sure and drive up to the North Shore to leave all the commercialism behind. I lived in Kailua, and Kailua Beach along with Lanikai Beach (they're connected) are my two favorite beaches on all the islands. They are consisently ranked in the top 10 beaches of the US.
