Yesterday was a particularily hard day to deal with; the pain was never relenting except after chocking myself full of Excedrin and Ibuprofen.

I have school three nights a week with working full time; it can be very difficult when trying to have a relationship full time as well.

More on my history. As I mentioned, these headaches started in 2003 or a little before. I had full relief with Topamax; got really fat from Depakote right before that. After being on Topamax for over a year with increasing dosage (happy around 200mg/day) I started having vision problems. Since I started Topamax, I had episodes of what I call “tunnel vision”. Everything seemed like I was looking through the opposite end of binoculars. I had these episodes since I was a kid; but they only occurred maybe twice a year. Under Topamax, I was getting them at least once to four times a day. Eventually I could predict them coming on.

Strangely enough, I don’t get auras with my migraines. Since day one of the pain, I’ve said it doesn’t feel “normal”. My doctors have disagreed even though melatonin, Indocin, triptans don’t help. I have to go onto anti-seizure medication to get rid of them. Nice, eh?

I have hereditarial high blood pressure and am on Lopressor (Metoprolol) and HCZ/HCL (Hydrochlorothiazide). These are normal medications prescribed to get RID of migraines! So I’m left to accept most of what I hear from my doctor(s). I’ve been with this neurologist for two years and so far he’s good at listening. This Friday I’m going in for an MRI at my request since I have films to compare brain tissue against from three years ago.

I just hope I don’t have to go back on those crappy meds…
